Envisioning the Future of Black Rock, Bridgeport, CT

The Bridgeport Planning and Economic Department proposed innovative changes in the Zoning regulations. The proposed regulation changes were designed to encourage denser, taller, mixed use development to create a richer, more vibrant commercial center for the Black Rock neighborhood. To help the residents and business owners better imagine the implementation of the regulations, the city engaged David Barbour Architects to conceptualize a vision for what the neighborhood could become and look like. The conceptual drawings, shown here, helped facilitate approval for the new regulations, which create a framework for a bright future for this urban neighborhood.
